STOCKING YOUR KITCHEN

This is the list of kitchen essentials that absolutely everyone should have in my opinion. You may think there are things that are left off this list or extras but in my years of cooking, I can do just about everything I want to do with these items. This is just a jumping off point. Once you have these items, then you can start adding on. I’ll also have a post about some good items to acquire once you have the bare necessities. 

1. One good knife (Choose the knife you like working with the most. I reccomend a serrated, kitchen, or nakiri style. It is better to splurge on a single high quality knife than a block of mediocre ones; it will make your cooking so much safer and less frustrating.)
2. One cutting board
3. One quality nonstick pan (medium to large size)
4. One saucepan
5. One medium pot
6. Two mixing bowls
7. Measuring cups and spoons (stainless steel ones are ideal because they can withstand heat)
8. One can opener
9. Two mixing spoons
10. One turning spatula (go with plastic or silicon here, that way you will not scratch anything with it)
11. Vegetable peeler
12. Cheese grater (handheld or box)
13. One baking pan (I reccomend a full or 2/3 size, this will ensure you can cook full batches of baked goods and full sheet meals. Aluminum foil can be used to make dividers if needed.)
14. Mesh strainer (this can be used as a strainer, sifter for flour and powdered sugar, and even as a steamer basket if you get the kind that has little hooks)
15. Dish towels (For hands, dishes, and oven mitts — make sure they are dry when handling hot items)

There is what I would describe as the foundation of a well stocked kitchen. For anything I use every single day, I really advocate getting quality over quantity. Go with trusted restaurant brands, read reviews, and do a little research to see what will fit your needs best.
